#  TasRail celebrates the 145th anniversary of railway operations in Tasmania. 

Since its establishment on 1 December 2009, TasRail has worked to create a sustainable freight railway business for its customers.

  With investment in network upgrades and new assets by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments, combined with TasRail"s focus on customer services, operational efficiencies and innovation, Tasmania now has a safe, modern and reliable freight rail service.

This is good news for users of the Tasmanian Freight System ' it means increased competition, greater efficiencies and lower prices. It"s also great news for the Tasmanian community because more freight on rail means less heavy vehicles on roads ' and that means safer roads, less road maintenance costs, and avoided road accident and pollution costs.
