#  Norwood Primary students win National Rail Safety Competition 

Two Launceston students from Norwood Primary School have blitzed their interstate competition to win a National Rail Safety Competition.

  Grade four students Kenneth Fuglsang and Abbie Brown authored and illustrated a picture book titled *"The Best Excursion Ever"* about a safe rail journey.

Kenneth, Abbie and their teacher - Roslyn Faulkner will be presented with their prizes at a special school assembly to be held at 2pm today. The event will be attended by the Hon. Rosemary Armitage MLC, and representatives of TasRail and the trackSAFE Foundation.

A highlight of the assembly will be the presentation of printed copies of the students" book and the launch of the e-book version that has been produced.

The whole of Class 4F recently attended a video conferencing workshop with the trackSAFE Foundation education, hosted by TasRail, ahead of publication of the e-book.

*“The Best Ever Excursionâ€* has been lodged with the Australian National Library and the Launceston Library. Other prizes to be awarded include gift vouchers for the winners, a $500 book voucher for the school, and a coffee machine for their teacher.

TasRail Chief Executive Officer Damien White said the students had written and produced an entertaining but educational book.

*“Although the theme of Kenneth and Abbie"s book is centred around a trip to a Melbourne Railway Station, the students have included relevant and equally important rail safety messages that apply to the Tasmanian Rail Networkâ€*, Mr White said.

Mr White congratulated Norwood Primary School for integrating rail safety education into their class activities.
